Laravel is one of the most popular PHP frameworks in the world, and Bangladesh has a large community of developers who use it every day. If you are a founder or agency abroad thinking about hiring here, this guide covers what matters in practice.
Why Laravel work fits remote collaboration
Laravel projects follow strong conventions: routes, controllers, Eloquent models, migrations, queues. A competent developer can join an existing codebase and be productive within days, which makes remote handovers smoother than with frameworks that leave every decision open.
Pair it with Vue.js or React on the front end and Flutter for mobile, and one developer can own a product from database to app store.
Time zones are an advantage
Dhaka is UTC+6. That gives:
- Middle East (UTC+3/+4): almost a full shared workday.
- Europe (UTC+0/+2): a solid morning overlap.
- North America: your evening is our morning, so work moves forward while you sleep.
Agree on two or three fixed overlap hours for calls and quick questions. Everything else can be asynchronous.
Communication habits to ask for
Good remote developers write things down. Ask for:
- A short written plan before each milestone.
- A live staging link updated at least weekly.
- Daily or every-other-day progress notes in Slack, email or your project tool.
- Questions raised early instead of guesses buried in code.
Pricing models
| Model | Works best for |
|---|---|
| Fixed price per milestone | Clear scope, MVPs, defined features |
| Hourly | Maintenance, bug fixing, unclear scope |
| Monthly retainer | Ongoing product development |
Fixed price needs a written scope. If you cannot write the scope yet, start hourly with a cap, then switch.
How to vet skills quickly
Portfolios help, but a small paid trial task tells you more. Good trial tasks take four to eight hours: a CRUD feature with validation, a queued job, a Stripe webhook handler, or a Vue component that talks to an API. Look at:
- Are migrations, validation and authorization handled properly?
- Are there tests for the important parts?
- Is the commit history readable?
- Did they ask clarifying questions?
Protect your code from day one
Create the Git repository under your GitHub or GitLab account and invite the developer. Same for hosting, domains, Stripe and app store accounts. You should never need to ask for your own code back.
Red flags
- No questions before quoting a fixed price.
- No staging environment, only "I'll send it when it's done".
- Credentials shared in chat instead of a password manager.
- Refusing to work in your repository.
